MT. LEBANON, Pa. — A Waste Management driver is fighting for his life inside Mercy Hospital after he was hit by a car in Mt. Lebanon.

Police said it happened on Kenmont Avenue Wednesday morning.

A beloved garbage man who was working his normal route ended up hit and bleeding on the sidewalk.

Neighbors in the area said a black sedan came down the street and hit the 34-year-old driver as he was in the street pulling a trash can.

One neighbor told Channel 11 the car swerved up onto the sidewalk, even snapping a tree before leaving the scene then later returning.

Mt. Lebanon police said the female driver of that car is being charged with driving under the influence and other related charges.

Waste Management told Channel 11 they are working with local authorities and want to thank all the first responders who jumped into action when this accident happened.
